Clean and Sober (from FM)
It has been almost a full year since I last played Football Manager. That’s a real accomplishment considering I’ve been playing it before it was even called Football Manager. (If you really want to know, my first taste of the series was from this installment)
Yeah, I’m sober now and I’m not going back.
FM is, hands down, the most addictive game I have ever played. It’s one of those simulation games where there’s no end in sight hence you’re stuck in a vicious cycle to surpass your previous achievements from one season to another.
FM can only end in two situations, either when
1. your computer crashes to the point of no return
2. the person-who-wants-to-use-the-computer-but-can’t snaps the CD in half.
And boy, are there temptations; especially from my so-called friends and of course, the internet.
To the innocent young men* and non-football fans alike, the game may look silly.
I’ve said it before [1][2] and I’m going to say it again, if you love your life, don’t EVER start, don’t even install the program, or even look at the CD cover when you visit the computer store;
or say goodbye to your freedom and friends.
Other symptoms of chronic FM addiction includes:
Admittedly, it’s really hard to turn down especially with all the new features. They even plan to release an online version of the game!
Oh my.
(Hands trembling..)
* I never seen a girl playing this game, but I know you’re out there, somewhere.
